Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long does the experience take?

It depends on the item: the clay bell painting takes approximately 45–60 minutes, while the fan painting takes approximately 90 minutes. You may take your finished piece home right after painting is complete.

・Can children or first-time painters join?

Yes, anyone from age 4 through adults is welcome. The process is simple, and our staff will guide first-timers carefully every step of the way.

・Can I join without a reservation (walk-in)?

Walk-ins are welcome if seats are available. However, each session is limited to a maximum of 4 guests, so we recommend booking online in advance to guarantee your spot.

・By when do I need to contact you to cancel or change the number of participants?

Please contact us by 7:00 PM the day before your session for cancellations or changes. Same-day cancellations without notice may incur a 100% cancellation fee.

・Can a companion who isn't participating (just observing) sit with us?

Because workspace is limited, seating is generally reserved for participants. Accompanying guardians of young children may be seated if space allows — please check with staff on-site.

・Is there anything I need to bring?

No, all necessary tools (clay bell, brushes, paints, etc.) are provided, so you can come empty-handed.

・Can I take my finished Piece home the same day?

Yes. The paint we use dries quickly, so you can take your piece (clay bell or fan) home right after the session. We'll wrap it carefully to prevent damage.

・How do I get to the venue (Kyoto Handicraft Center)?

From JR Kyoto Station, take city bus route 206 and get off at "Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art-mae" (about a 5-minute walk), or from Keihan "Jingu-marutamachi" Station it's about a 10-minute walk. Please come directly to the workshop area on the 3rd floor of the East Building.

・Can my foreign friend join too? Do you offer support in English?

Yes, we offer full guidance and explanations in English. Guests visiting from overseas are very welcome and can participate with confidence.
